Pregnancy Stress: How to Beat IT?
How to Relieve Stress When You Are Trying to Get Pregnant?
Every woman suffers from anxiety in this day and age and expected moms can stress a few other factors. You know that kind of stress is not good for your physical and mental health and it could also affect your baby’s health. According to some studies, increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol can cause shorter pregnancies and even affect the growth of the baby. This way, here are some of the best ways to beat those prickly situations –
- Practice some Breathing
Stress can affect your breathing highly. You also end up taking shorter and thinner breaths. In the end, it affects your body’s oxygen levels. It also increases tension and reduces the oxygen level. Of course, this cycle continues until you stop it. But you can break it by meditating and breathing. Just sit or lie down, close your eyes, and take deep breaths five to six times. Breathe in and out through your nose and mouth while focusing on the rise and fall of the chest.
- Stretching
The stress hormones can tighten and tense up your muscles. This way, stretching can help counteract tight muscles and you can relieve stress. If you are getting nervous or anxious, take a few minutes and stretch your back, neck, legs, and arms. Tilt your head to stretch your neck in a way to move your left ear to the left shoulder.
Take a pause and feel it and hold for 20 seconds. Take a deep breath to relax your muscles. Move your head back to its usual position.
- Take enough rest
Your mind and body can instantly be exhausted without proper sleep. It can raise negative emotions and thoughts which can lead to stress. Take a quick nap during the day if you are not having proper sleep at night.
- Get a massage to de-stress yourself
Massage also helps relax your tense muscles and relieve stress in pregnancy. You can massage your tense muscles if you are feeling stress. You can simply use massage oil or spray some squirts in the palm and massage with kneading, soft hands. While massaging, focus on breathing and you can melt your stress.
- Practice Positive Self-Talk
If you are stressed, you can also talk to yourself positively. This simple mantra can help you de-stress yourself again and again. You can practice the same to focus and remove all negative thoughts out of your head. Think about your newborn and anything that can make you feel good.
- Have some Peppermint Tea
The menthol in peppermint tea leaves relaxes your muscles. Peppermint is also effective to get rid of gas on your stomach and other issues like vomiting and nausea. Sip on peppermint tea, which is an all-natural and healthy way to de-stress during this period.
